Helix is an appliance placed on the upper molars utilized to help with
maintaining upper width of the upper jaw relative to the lower jaw.
This is a fixed appliance, it is permanent until Dr. Berkowitz removes
it, and is generally quite easy for patients to adapt to its use once the
appliance is placed in. You will be
seen in the office every 3-4 weeks for adjustments.
There may be some very minor discomfort for a day or two after
1. Your appliance
should be cleaned normally by daily tooth brushing, flossing and rinsing.
Some patients may
notice an indentation on the surface of the tongue from the appliance (this is
normal). If this occurs, you can
swish with a hydrogen peroxide rinse to cleanse the area.
3. If the appliance
would come loose, please contact our office immediately for repair!
