Patient Instructions:

For your individual needs, Dr. Berkowitz has determined that “bonded” retainers will work best for you.  Bonded retainers are concealed on the backside of your teeth so they are esthetically pleasing.  This retainer is placed in an exact position on your teeth and will remain there as so determined by the doctor.  Your new retainer will keep your front teeth straight and healthy as long as you are careful of how you eat, bite, brush and floss.  All retainers should be considered for lifetime wear to maximally hold the correction.

Care Instructions:

Use the bristles of your toothbrush to gently clean between the wire and the tooth surface EVERY time you brush!

When flossing under this bonded wire, be sure to use floss threaders or super floss to help in guiding the floss between your gums.

Be sure to tell your dentist or dental hygienist to be ever so careful of your new retainers when they are cleaning around them.  If it becomes loose at your appointment, notify our office immediately.

If your retainer becomes “debonded” or you lose some bonding material, do not pull or touch your retainer.  Call the office immediately to schedule an appointment.
